About the position

Sunbird in Orleans is currently hiring both trained and untrained baristas with enthusiastic personalities, and strong customer/counter service skills.

Our FOH team is dynamic, self-motivated, and collaborates with purpose and passion. While experience is preferred, it is not required. However — being consistent, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable are absolutes for all team members.

Job candidates are passionate about exceptional customer service, love good food & coffee, take pride in their craft, and collaborate seamlessly with others to make every day a success for our teams, our business, and our customers.

What you’ll be doing…

  • Guiding each customer experience with thoughtful care, and attention to their needs and desires.

  • Make perfect espresso and coffee drinks consistently, calmly, and kindly for every guest, every day you barista.

  • Dial-in like a pro. Coffee grinding is a nuanced and finicky art form. Be ready to ensure that every pull is perfect, even when it’s busy.

  • Support and collaborate seamlessly with your team members.

  • Master our menu (both food and beverage) inside and out.

  • Review and apply daily pre-shift updates diligently.

  • Continuously refine your barista skills, including latte art and taste profiles.

  • Embrace our “shiny new“ daily cleaning policy with enthusiasm during breakdown.

  • Learn and implement proper use of all equipment during service, opening, and closing.

  • Always help out with any necessary tasks (dishes, cleaning, stocking, organizing, or whatever the team needs a little extra help with that day).

  • Background: Must have a clean criminal record and no pending legal concerns that could affect employment.

  • Physical Capability: Able to routinely work up to 8 hours with repeated walking, bending, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
