Job Description

Sunbird in Orleans is currently hiring both trained and untrained baristas with enthusiastic personalities, and strong customer/counter service skills.

Our FOH team is dynamic, self-motivated, and collaborates with purpose and passion. While experience is preferred, it is not required. However — being consistent, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable are absolutes for all team members.

Job candidates are passionate about exceptional customer service, love good food & coffee, take pride in their craft, and collaborate seamlessly with others to make every day a success for our teams, our business, and our customers.


Responsibilities

  • We prioritize every customer experience. Guide each customer with thoughtful care and attention to detail.

  • We elevate drink quality & consistency. Always strive to create perfect espresso and coffee drinks, every time.

  • We dial-in daily. All of our baristas adjust their grind settings daily. We never assume it’s good; we always confirm it.

  • We collaborate seamlessly. Supporting our team from start to finish on every shift is the norm here. You can expect it, and please provide it.

  • We master our menus. Always know what Sunbird is serving (drink & food items), when (seasonals, staples, specials), how (if describing them), and why (because we prefer to offer some great choices, not just more choices).

  • We’re pre-shift pros. Always review and execute our pre-shift updates with purpose and professionalism each day.

  • We clean it like we mean it. As part of our “shiny new“ daily cleaning policy, we don’t just clean things, we make sure things are clean.

  • We master our methods. Every employee must learn to perform the proper use our equipment at all phases of operation (opening, during service, and closing).

  • We always help out. We are synergistic, helping our team wherever and whenever they need it.

  • We start & finish strong. Our ‘default’ mode at Sunbird is max effort end-to-end, just because we can — like birds do.

  • We stay sharp. Continuously refine and improve your barista skills, including latte art, grinds, taste profiles and more.


Qualifications

  • Availability: Commit to at least one year of employment (seasonal applicants, please discuss availability with the manager).

  • Reliability: Consistently punctual and dependable; you take accountability seriously and follow through on commitments.

  • Commitment: Dedicated to your team, our management philosophy, and ensuring a positive experience for every guest.

  • Professionalism: Take your work seriously while maintaining a positive, flexible, and humble attitude.

  • Passion: Genuinely enthusiastic about great coffee and creating memorable customer interactions.

  • Detail-Oriented: Self-motivated to observe, learn, constantly improve, and develop your skill set.

  • Brand Awareness: Understand that you represent Sunbird both on and off the job.

  • Background: Must have a clean criminal record and no pending legal concerns that could affect employment.

  • Physical Capability: Able to routinely work up to 8 hours with repeated walking, bending, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
